I don’t do wedding cakes…. that’s what I said.

So instead, I made a 3 tier cake.

Bride and Groom Cake Pops

These super sweet bride and groom cake pops were given to guests as wedding favours. Becasue I often like to make my busy life more complex than it needs to be, I thought, wouldn’t it be great to put little pearl necklaces on the brides…. Ouch, carpel tunnel from operating tweezers after 100 of those! Even still, I think it was worth the extra effort. Congratulations on your wedding Arlet!

Congratulations Mr & Mrs!

Congratulations to Jen and Dave who got married on Saturday! Scroll down if you do not want to miss the coolest and most personalized wedding program you have EVER seen. I had to snap a few pics after I finished with the cake. For this wedding I made the cake and 110 individually boxed cupcakes in tw0 flavours, lemon and chocolate. But first, let me talk about the cake stand. Jen wanted to use it because it is a family heirloom. The first time it held a wedding cake was 1886!! I assure you I was more stressed about transporting this cake stand than I was about her cake! It was beautiful.

And now for the program. The bride made her own newspaper!! Dave proposed to Jen in a crossword puzzle, so nothing could have been more fitting. Thanks for allowing me to share this Jen. The paper had current headlines, weather, a story about Jen and Dave, the traditional wedding program, advertising (thanks for that), a homes section about the renovation they are undertaking, a personalized crossword, and very clever classified ads. Outstanding!!! (If you click on the photo, you can enlarge it).

More Wedding!

This wedding cookie bouquet traveled to Calgary late last week to celebrate a wedding. Please forgive the poor lighting. I do most of my decorating after dark. I do my best to take photos in the morning, but as you can see, that does not always happen. I’m busy working away on two birthday parties for Saturday, it’s busy around here!!

Bride and Groom Cake Pops

I made these bride and groom cake pops for a bridal shower. If you haven’t heard of them before, cake pops are a delicious blend of cake and icing dipped in chocolate. Yum, I know, right. These ones were white cake with buttercream frosting and dipped into white and dark chocolate. I was lucky that the 12 required for this order survived all my taste testers… my Grandma ate the two I gave her within a couple of hours, and I had other taste testers snooping around the kitchen wondering if there were any more extra.

I Guess Those Were Popular!

Since posting the “I Do” cookie set that I made for our friend’s wedding last weekend I’ve had a lot of nice feedback (thanks!), and a lot of interest in other people looking to give these cookies as a gift. I had two orders for these this week. Both of these bouquets were made to match the wedding colours.

Wedding Cookie Favours

These Labrador flag cookie favours were a surprise from the bride to the groom at their wedding reception. It probably goes without saying that the groom is originally from Labrador. I’m going to admit publicly that I was unaware Labrador had it’s own flag. I always thought that Newfoundland and Labrador shared the flag. Oops. I’m married to a man from Nova Scotia. I feel like this is something I should have known. So 150 cookies later I am now an expert on this flag. p.s. please excuse the wrinky tablecloth…. I didn’t realize how bad it was until after I uploaded this photo. It’s lucky for me my grandmother doesn’t use the Internet, because if she saw that tablecloth she would not be impressed with me!!!

I DO!!!! Wedding Cookie Bouquet

It’s wedding season. Oooooooooooh how I love weddings. Yesterday we got to celebrate the wedding of our friends Erica and Robbie. I’m all about the dress, and Erica’s was a knockout!! They had the coolest entrance music I had ever heard…. J. Ralph, and instead of flowers bouquets the girls carried feather bouquets with crystals. They were stunning. We enjoyed the day so much.

I wanted to do some special cookies for them as part of their gift. I l found this vase that I love, love, love… it’s a little fancy for a cookie vase, but it’s a special occasion. I filled it with a variety of wedding theme cookies: bride, groom, wedding cake, gown, diamond ring and heart designs… all in signature Tiffany& Co blue. This was my first time making 3D icing decorations (the flowers and leaves)… it was a lot of fun. Also I felt at least 50% less guilty about watching the finale of the Bachelorette because I was piping flowers at the same time.

Congratulations Erica and Robbie!

Wedding Shower Cupcakes

When I started this business it was out of love for baking. What I didn’t know is just how much happiness it would bring me bringing happiness to others. People keep asking me if I worry that I’ll stop loving to bake now that it’s “work”.  To be honest, I worried about that a little bit early on. Now that I have been doing it for awhile I’m not worried about it at all. It brings me such joy to be able to share in all the celebrations that people have in their lives – new babies, weddings, anniversaries, birthdays, graduations…. It’s really, really special. So thanks to everyone for letting me share (even just a little bit) in your happiness.

These cupcakes were for a wedding shower. I wanted to mix it up and do something a little different with these, so I used my square cupcake pan. I made the heart shaped toppers for these cupcakes out of chocolate and was really happy with how they turned out. Yummy.
